We are stronger together

Vision:

Each block has its own group chat and increased in-person connections, to help neighbors support each other and make stronger connections.

Each block has a coordinator who helps encourage these connections, and who also can connect with the other blocks across our neighborhood.

Interested in learning about being a block coordinator?

Want to help create a neighborhood network?

Have other ideas for how we can strengthen our community?

From neighborhood meeting, Sat Feb 7:

List serv is good for things that are not time sensitive

Ways that neighbors on each block can support each other, how blocks could support other blocks

Build up ways to make sure our neighbors are doing ok

Something decentralized, not written online, less public

Coordinators could identify resources and needs on each block

Each block can decide what their communication is going to look like

Blocks could communicate together for needs not met on each block, or for larger issues affecting multiple blocks

Groundwork for this was already laid in 2020, when 28 blocks had block coordinators and joined together in mutual support during Covid. Many other blocks already have their own successful systems in place for communicating with their neighbors.

Exactly what this will look like is a work in progress! I’m hoping we can all build this together.

This map shows the different block numbers throughout our neighborhood.

See below for all the blocks, separated into color-coded geographic groups.
